Kardashian divorce, property division drags on

Marital property division can often be a difficult stage of the divorce process for Maryland couples. Negotiating who gets what during property division is a necessary but often challenging step to go through. Other aspects of divorce can also sometimes lead to lengthy negotiations. This seems to be the case for the high-profile divorce between reality star Kim Kardashian and her estranged husband Kris Humphries.

The couple's divorce has actually proven to be more long-standing than their brief 72-day marriage. One of the big issues between the couple actually has to do with how the marriage should now be ended. Humphries is pushing to have the marriage annulled as if it had never legally occurred. Kardashian, however, is seeking that the marriage be ended through divorce and recently requested the court expedite the process.

This attempt to hurry the divorce through the legal system apparently came as a result of her becoming pregnant by her new romantic partner, famed singer Kanye West. Kardashian has reportedly stated that she would prefer to have the divorce finalized by the summer when her baby is due to be born. Humphries appears set to fight this and has stated that Kim fraudulently entered into the marriage with the goal of making millions of dollars off of their televised wedding.

There have been reports in the past of this couple battling over the potential property division between them in addition to whether their marriage was true or a publicity stunt. However this particular divorce case plays out, Maryland couples who are contemplating their own property division issues likely won't have to deal with the extreme amount of publicity that this couple has. There is little doubt that the added pressure of media attention can make an already difficult process even more challenging.
